Bruce Michaels is . . . a songwriter . . . a musician (primarily a pianist, although he plays several instruments). . .a vocalist. . .an actor. . . a writer. His songs' melodies play over and over in one's mind, while his lyrics paint vivid images in the mind's eye. A prime example is Oklahoma Mo(u)rning. Alluding to the tragic bombing of 1995, and offered in the tradition of Guthrie, Seeger and Dylan, it can not help but touch one's soul.And his lush arrangements of well-known songs find a way to make the familiar fresh. An eclectic mix of jazz, pop, standards, folk, and jazz rock, the title aptly describes the moods . . . a night of fine dining one moment, a smoky jazz club another, a summer orchestra pops concert at yet another, or even a folk song fest on the lawn. A collection for lovers, all songs are arranged by Bruce Michaels, and feature his piano stylings, sometimes with vocals. Backed by the sounds of either a quartet or a full big-band, often in a light jazz style, but at times rich with strings, the songs are perfect for romantic listening by the fireplace, perhaps with a loaf of bread and a jug of wine. Two of Michaels' originals are included, but the rest will be known by all. It is dedicated to all who have been, hope to be, or are. . . in love.

A mix of both sacred and popular with rich arrangements that weave a seasonal tapestry to help conjure the season's best feelings. Most of the songs are instrumentals featuring the piano, with other instruments making sometimes dramatic entrances to augment the mood. And Bruce vocalizes on a few songs, with Jingle Bells breaking new ground as all four parts of the barber shop-like harmony are he, himself.
